It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Embassy of Switzerland in Rwanda.
The opening of the Swiss Embassy in Kigali in November 2025, marked by the visit of the Swiss Minister of Foreign Affairs, represents an important new chapter in the longstanding relationship between Switzerland and Rwanda. For many decades, our two countries have worked together in a spirit of partnership and mutual respect. The establishment of this Embassy reflects our shared commitment to deepen this cooperation and to further strengthen the ties between our peoples and institutions.
Switzerland and Rwanda are connected by a relationship built on trust, dialogue and common values. Over the years, Switzerland has been a longstanding development partner of Rwanda, supporting initiatives that promote opportunity, resilience and good governance. In the coming years, our cooperation will continue to focus particularly on economic development, employment and local governance, as outlined in the Swiss Cooperation Programme 2026–2029.
At the same time, the opening of the Embassy also signals our ambition to broaden and deepen bilateral relations. Switzerland seeks to further expand collaboration in areas such as innovation and science, while fostering stronger economic links, trade and investment between our two countries and businesses.
Switzerland also remains committed to contributing to peace and stability in the wider region. Where requested, we stand ready to share our experience and expertise in areas such as dialogue, mediation and peacebuilding.
Beyond institutional cooperation, the relationship between Switzerland and Rwanda is enriched by the many connections between our people. Members of the Swiss community living and working in Rwanda play an important role in strengthening this friendship. I look forward to engaging with the Swiss community here and to working together to further nurture the close ties between our two countries.
